A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament championship match.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has endured a torrid season, achieving just one win at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Moutet.

It is Medvedev's maiden trophy after the Italian tournament and first on a hard court after March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to secure a title is particularly special," said tennis professional the champion.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament in the past months.

His counter-punching approach and regular outbursts on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the highest level was concluded.

But the player has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, securing four of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors swapped breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

Moutet defended four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
